YSMR
YSMR tracks and analyzes bacterial motility from video data to quantify individual-cell swimming behavior for studies of bacterial taxis and motility-related phenomena.
Key Features:
- High-Throughput Tracking: Simultaneously tracks large numbers of bacterial cells (hundreds of objects) from video files.
- Extended Duration Analysis: Tracks multiple bacterial cells over extended periods (at least five minutes) to capture long-duration motility behavior.
- Detection and Tracking Approach: Detects and links objects using grey-value and positional information across video frames.
- Data Integrity Assurance: Applies selection criteria to filter suspicious data points and retain reliable tracks.
- Statistical Analysis Integration: Produces datasets suitable for statistical analysis and supports exporting tracking data for external analyses.
Scientific Applications:
- Bacterial taxis mechanisms: Enables quantitative analysis of individual-cell swimming to investigate molecular mechanisms of taxis.
- Virulence-related motility: Supports studies of how motility contributes to pathogenic bacteria virulence.
- Behavioral responses to stimuli: Permits assessment of bacterial behavioral responses to environmental changes or stimuli over time.
Methodology:
Implemented in Python; detection and tracking are based on grey-value and positional information, selection criteria filter suspicious data points, and the software outputs data for statistical analysis and export.
