IMGT DomainSuperimpose
IMGT DomainSuperimpose superimposes three-dimensional (3D) structures of protein domains using IMGT unique numbering to enable standardized comparative structural analyses of immunoglobulin (IG), T cell receptor (TR), major histocompatibility (MH) proteins and related superfamilies.
Key Features:
- Domain Superimposition: Superimposes 3D structures of two domains retrieved from IMGT/3Dstructure-DB to enable comparative structural analyses.
- IMGT Unique Numbering: Numbers domain 3D structures according to the IMGT unique numbering system for consistent identification and comparison of IG, TR, MH proteins and related superfamilies.
- Standardized Framework (IMGT-ONTOLOGY): Implements IMGT-ONTOLOGY concepts including standardized keywords for identification, labels for description, nomenclature for classification, and the IMGT Colliers de Perles unique numbering.
Scientific Applications:
- Adaptive Immune Response Analysis: Supports genomic and expressed repertoire analyses of IG and TR for studies of adaptive immune responses.
- Clinical Applications: Enables mutation analysis in leukemia and lymphoma to inform research on disease mechanisms and therapeutic targets.
- Antibody Engineering: Facilitates structural comparison for antibody engineering and humanization, including design of therapeutic antibodies and fusion proteins.
Methodology:
Leverages 3D structures from IMGT/3Dstructure-DB and applies IMGT unique numbering and IMGT-ONTOLOGY concepts (including IMGT Colliers de Perles) to perform structural superimposition and precise alignment/comparison of domain structures.
