IMGT GeneSearch

IMGT GeneSearch provides standardized search and retrieval of immunogenetic genes and associated genomic data for immunoglobulins (IG), T cell receptors (TR), major histocompatibility complex (MHC), and related immune proteins to support genomic and functional analyses.

Key Features:

  • Standardized data access: Integrates IMGT/LocusView and applies IMGT-ONTOLOGY concepts to provide semantically consistent genomic data for IG, TR, MHC, and related proteins.
  • Comprehensive databases: Leverages IMGT/GENE-DB and other IMGT databases to provide genomic information across vertebrates.
  • Interoperability and web services: Exposes web services enabling programmatic interactions among IMGT tools and external systems to support complex biological and clinical queries.
  • Ontological standardization: Implements IMGT-ONTOLOGY to standardize keywords, labels, gene nomenclature, numbering, and structural motifs including Colliers de Perles.

Scientific Applications:

  • Adaptive immune repertoire analysis: Supports analysis of genomic and expressed repertoires of IG and TR to study adaptive immune responses.
  • Medical research: Facilitates research on autoimmune diseases, AIDS, leukemias, lymphomas, and myelomas through gene-centered genomic data.
  • Clinical diagnostics and mutation analysis: Supports mutation analysis in leukemia and lymphoma, diagnostics for residual disease detection, and applications relevant to immunotherapy and vaccinology.
  • Veterinary and comparative genomics: Enables veterinary research and genome diversity studies across vertebrates.
  • Antibody engineering and biotechnology: Provides genomic resources used in antibody engineering and related biotechnological developments.

Methodology:

Data are standardized using IMGT-ONTOLOGY concepts (keywords, labels, nomenclature, numbering, Colliers de Perles), accessed via integration with IMGT/GENE-DB and IMGT/LocusView, and exposed through web services for interoperability; datasets can be integrated with next-generation sequencing (NGS) data.
