IMGT PRIMER-DB

IMGT PRIMER-DB standardizes immunogenetic primer and sequence annotations using IMGT-ONTOLOGY principles to enable consistent classification and analysis of IG and TR nucleotide and protein sequences.

Key Features:

  • Standardization and Ontology: Ensures consistency via IMGT-ONTOLOGY principles, including standardized keywords, labels, nomenclature, unique numbering, and IMGT Colliers de Perles.
  • Comprehensive Data Access: Provides nucleotide and protein sequences, gene maps, genetic polymorphisms, specificities, and 3D structures.
  • Integration with IMGT Resources: Links to IMGT/LIGM-DB, IMGT/MHC-DB, IMGT/GENE-DB, IMGT/3Dstructure-DB and tools such as IMGT/V-QUEST, IMGT/GeneSearch, and IMGT/StructuralQuery.
  • Web Services and Interoperability: Supports automated querying via Web services and IMGT-Choreography using the IMGT-ML XML Schema for machine-readable data exchange.

Scientific Applications:

  • Medical Research: Analyzes IG/TR repertoires in autoimmune diseases, AIDS, leukemias, lymphomas, and myelomas.
  • Veterinary Research: Supports IG/TR repertoire studies across species for farm and wildlife immunology.
  • Genome Diversity and Evolution Studies: Explores genome diversity and the evolution of adaptive immune responses.
  • Biotechnology and Therapeutics: Facilitates antibody engineering, phage display, combinatorial libraries, and therapeutic antibody development.
  • Clinical Applications: Enables mutation analysis in leukemia and lymphoma and supports development of therapeutic antibodies and fusion proteins.

Methodology:

IMGT PRIMER-DB employs IMGT-ONTOLOGY with standardized keywords, labels and nomenclature, unique numbering, and IMGT Colliers de Perles to enable precise immunogenetic sequence classification and analysis.
