LOTUS
LOTUS consolidates and shares referenced structure-organism pairs via an open platform to enable knowledge management, analysis, and interpretation in natural products research.
Key Features:
- Harmonized Data Curation: LOTUS harmonizes, curates, and validates over 750,000 referenced structure-organism pairs establishing relationships between molecular structures and the living organisms from which they were identified.
- Open Data Hosting: LOTUS data is hosted on Wikidata and regularly mirrored on https://lotus.naturalproducts.net, broadening data access and interoperability.
- Knowledge Graph Integration: LOTUS data is embedded into the Wikidata knowledge graph to facilitate new biological and chemical insights.
- Community Curation Support: Data sharing within the Wikidata framework enables community curation and evolving publication models.
Scientific Applications:
- Natural Products Research: LOTUS enables a more complete understanding of organisms and their chemistry through documented structure-organism pairs.
- Data Integration and Interoperability: LOTUS addresses challenges of data access within natural products discipline and integration between related fields by consolidating referenced structure-organism pairs on an open platform.
- Biological and Chemical Insight Discovery: Embedding LOTUS data into the Wikidata knowledge graph facilitates new biological and chemical insights through interconnected knowledge exploration.
Methodology:
LOTUS completes harmonization, curation, validation and open dissemination of referenced structure-organism pairs within the Wikidata framework.
