BioNanoAnalyst

BioNanoAnalyst is a software tool that enables researchers to identify and analyze misassemblies in reference genome sequences using optical mapping data. The software compares a reference genome's restriction endonuclease cut sites with optical map data to detect potential assembly errors. BioNanoAnalyst features a graphical user interface that allows users to visualize and assess genome assemblies on various computer platforms without requiring programming skills. The software's zoom function enhances visualization, while its ability to output results in GFF3 format lets users directly view questionable assembly regions in a local genome browser. By providing information on assembly errors, BioNanoAnalyst facilitates the correction of misassemblies using other software tools, ultimately leading to more accurate downstream analyses of reference genome sequences.
