Braintown
Braintown is a software tool that automatically identifies dendritic spines in live, fluorescent tissue, utilizing a machine learning approach to minimize user input. The software cleans fluorescent images and trains a neural network using features based on the relative shape of the spine perimeter and its corresponding dendritic backbone. Braintown has over 90% accuracy in spine detection and is bundled with user-friendly, open-source, MATLAB-based software for spine analysis, making it a rapid and flexible tool for studying synaptic plasticity.
