FGNet

FGNet (Functional Gene Networks) is an R package to enhance the interpretation of functional enrichment analysis (FEA) results by constructing gene networks. This innovative tool takes gene sets enriched with specific biological terms from FEA and transforms them into a network. It establishes links between genes sharing functional annotations or clustering, offering a novel perspective on the data by highlighting gene modules with shared functions and identifying genes associated with multiple functions.

Beyond network creation, FGNet evaluates the similarity among gene groups, presenting the results as a distance heatmap and a bipartite network that showcases functionally overlapping genes, giving researchers a deeper understanding of the functional relationships and overlap between gene sets.

FGNet has a user-friendly interface, allowing direct FEA queries through integration with various external tools such as DAVID, GeneTerm Linker, TopGO, or GAGE.
