GALLO

GALLO (Genomic Annotation in Livestock for positional candidate LOci) is an R package to support the annotation of genes and quantitative trait loci (QTLs) within genomic regions identified through common livestock genomic analyses, including genome-wide association studies (GWAS) and RNA sequencing transcriptomics. This tool addresses the need for comprehensive integration of various sources of biological information to elucidate the complex regulatory mechanisms underlying trait development in livestock species such as cattle, pigs, sheep, and chickens.

GALLO distinguishes itself by offering functionalities for the graphical visualization of gene and QTL annotation results. This facilitates data comparison across different grouping factors such as methods, breeds, tissues, statistical models, and studies. Moreover, it enables QTL enrichment analysis across different livestock species, providing a valuable resource for understanding the genetic architecture of complex traits.
