GEOmetadb

"GEOmetadb" is a tool to streamline and enhance the querying metadata from the NCBI Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO), the largest public repository for microarray data. Recognizing the challenges of finding specific data within GEO, GEOmetadb simplifies and empowers the querying process by parsing all GEO metadata records and their relationships and storing them in a local MySQL database. This approach facilitates easier access and enables more powerful query capabilities than those available through NCBI's tools.

GEOmetadb provides a web search interface with various utilities to accommodate user needs. It offers query options that surpass the functionalities of NCBI's native tools. This package uses an SQLite export of the entire GEOmetadb database, allowing users to leverage the full power of SQL-based queries directly within the R environment.

GEOmetadb's accessibility of the entire GEO database opens up new possibilities for data exploration and analysis, making it a valuable resource for the bioinformatics community. GEOmetadb also offers a MATLAB implementation, ensuring broad accessibility and utility across different computational platforms.
