"GeneRegionScan" is a software package for the R platform, tailored to enhance the analysis of whole-genome microarray data beyond the traditional gene or exon summarization steps. Affymetrix microarrays, which construct a comprehensive snapshot of the transcriptome using multiple probes per gene, typically reduce the complexity of this data into a single expression value per gene or exon. While this summarization is helpful for broad analyses, it can obscure detailed information crucial for investigating specific genes of interest.

To overcome this limitation, GeneRegionScan provides functionalities for a detailed probe-level analysis, enabling researchers to match probe sequences against a target gene sequence, whether mRNA or DNA. This approach allows for visualizing expression levels across different gene regions, preserving and highlighting the intricacies of gene expression that summarization overlooks.

Additionally, GeneRegionScan incorporates features for conducting linear regression analysis based on various genetic models.
