MCTBI
The MCTBI (Molecular Coulombic Transport with Boundary Integral) server is a valuable web-based software tool that predicts the effects of metal ions on RNA structures. The tool is based on the MCTBI model, which considers ion correlation and fluctuation effects for nucleic acid structures. Unlike other existing web servers and software packages, MCTBI provides more accurate predictions of multivalent ions, such as Mg(2+) effects, as shown by extensive theory-experiment test results.
The MCTBI server is designed to predict metal ion binding fractions, the most probable bound ion distribution, the electrostatic free energy of the system, and the free energy components. These predictions provide mechanistic insights into the role of metal ions in RNA structure formation and folding stability, which is important for understanding RNA functions and the rational design of RNA structures.
The study of RNA structure and function is crucial for understanding many biological processes, such as gene expression and regulation. Metal ions play a critical role in RNA structure and function, and their effects on RNA structures can be complex and difficult to predict. The MCTBI server fills a significant gap in the field by providing a user-friendly and accurate tool for predicting the effects of metal ions on RNA structures.
