MethCoresProfiler

MethCoresProfiler is a software tool to tackle the complexities of analyzing DNA methylation, a crucial and stable epigenetic modification. Unlike traditional DNA methylation analysis methods, which focus on single-nucleotide resolution and average methylation levels, MethCoresProfiler offers a novel approach for identifying and tracing stable epialleles within complex DNA populations.

Key Features and Functionality

  • Extraction of Methylated Phased CpGs: Enables the extraction of combinations of methylated phased CpGs, uncovering stable epialleles in complex DNA populations.
  • Identification of Epiallele Families: Identifies and traces the families of epialleles, highlighting patterns of methylation shared across all components.
  • Analysis of Stable Methylated Cores: Focuses on the stable methylated cores, characterized by high informational content and low stochasticity.
  • Evolution of Epialleles: Tracks the evolution of epialleles as they acquire or lose new methyl sites, offering insights into the dynamics of DNA methylation.
  • Validation with Synthetic and Real Data: The tool's reliability and utility have been validated through its application to both synthetic and real datasets.
