PaSS
PaSS is a PacBio Sequencing Simulator that is designed to evaluate and promote the development of new bioinformatics tools for PacBio sequencing data analysis. PacBio sequencing is a third-generation sequencing platform that generates much longer reads than the second-generation sequencing technologies and has unique sequencing error patterns. Therefore, an effective read simulator is essential to evaluate and promote the development of new bioinformatics tools for PacBio sequencing data analysis.
PaSS has been developed to overcome these challenges. It includes a context-specific sequencing error model, which is crucial for accurately simulating the sequencing errors present in PacBio sequencing data. Moreover, the software tool can learn sequence patterns from available PacBio sequencing data.
