PolNet
PolNet is an open-source software tool to study blood flow and cell-level biological activity during vessel morphogenesis. It provides a comprehensive image acquisition, segmentation, and analysis protocol that enables the quantification of endothelial cell polarity in entire in vivo vascular networks. The tool utilizes computational fluid dynamics to characterize the hemodynamics of the vascular networks under study.
PolNet is the first software tool that enables a network-level analysis of polarity and flow for individual endothelial cells. The ability to analyze both polarity and flow of individual cells is crucial to understanding vascular patterning mechanisms.
PolNet has already proven invaluable in studying endothelial cell polarization and migration during vascular patterning, as demonstrated by two recent publications. Additionally, the tool's capability to correlate blood flow with other experimental observations at the cellular/molecular level makes it a versatile resource for researchers in the field.
