RUVnormalize

RUVnormalize is a Bioconductor package designed to address the challenge of unwanted variation in large-scale gene expression studies, which can arise from differences in platforms, batches, and other non-biological factors. If not adequately accounted for such variations, can lead to misleading associations and obscure genuine biological signals. The software uses negative control genes and replicate samples to estimate this unwanted variation and then corrects the gene expression data accordingly. This approach is particularly valuable in unsupervised analyses, such as clustering samples or creating a corrected dataset, where the goal isn't to study a specific observed factor. RUVnormalize carefully distinguishes between unwanted variation and the biological signal of interest, ensuring that the correction process doesn't inadvertently remove valuable information.
