Raptor

Raptor is a software tool that facilitates the approximate searching of a vast array of queries, such as next-generation sequencing reads or transcripts, within extensive collections of nucleotide sequences. The core technology behind Raptor leverages winnowing minimizers, a technique that allows the system to identify and utilize a set of representative signatures from the nucleotide sequences. This approach enables efficient and scalable search capabilities across large genomic datasets, making Raptor particularly suitable for bioinformatics applications where rapid and accurate analysis of genetic information is crucial. By optimizing the process of matching sequencing reads or transcripts to a comprehensive database of nucleotide sequences, Raptor enhances the ability of researchers to conduct genetic analyses, understand genetic variations, and advance the study of genomics.
