SraTailor
SraTailor is a software tool that simplifies the process of converting raw data from ChIP-seq experiments into BigWig-formatted files, a necessary step for visualizing the data. ChIP-seq data are deposited in public databases such as Sequence Read Archives (SRAs), publicly available to researchers. However, downloading and converting these SRAs into the desired format requires a certain level of expertise in script languages and sequence data processing, which can be a significant barrier for biologists who lack these skills.
To address this challenge, SraTailor was developed as a Graphical User Interface (GUI) software package that simplifies the process of converting SRAs to BigWig files. The software allows users to enter the accession number of an SRA and click a button to obtain the desired formatted files. The software can also make peak calls, generate files in other formats, process user data, and accept various command-line-like options.
One of the most notable features of SraTailor is its simplicity of use, which makes ChIP-seq data fully exploitable by a wide range of biologists, regardless of their level of expertise in script languages and sequence data processing.
