SwDMR
swDMR is a software tool that analyzes differentially methylated regions (DMRs) from whole genome methylation profiles using a sliding window approach. The emergence of whole genome bisulfite sequencing (WGBS) has been a significant milestone in detecting DNA methylation, an essential epigenetic modification that regulates gene expression and chromatin remodeling. The characterization of DMRs is fundamental in further functional analysis.
swDMR is an integrated tool that offers accessible statistical methods for hypothesis testing adapted to two or more samples without replicates. Moreover, swDMR controls the false discovery rate by multiple test corrections. This feature is particularly useful when analyzing WGBS data because it reduces the likelihood of false positives. Additionally, swDMR provides downstream analysis tools, such as cluster, annotation, and visualization modules. These tools allow researchers to better understand the biological significance of their findings.
swDMR is a convenient and flexible tool that can produce abundant information on differentially methylated regions. By using WGBS data and swDMR, researchers can investigate potential functional regions involved in epigenetic regulation. This information can better understand complex biological processes and provide insights into potential therapeutic targets.
