VisME
VisME is a visual analytics system that enhances exploring and analyzing microsaccade distributions within high-frequency eye-tracking data. The uniqueness of VisME lies in its ability to promote reproducibility and transparency in microsaccade research, a field where the application of filter algorithms and parameter values can vary significantly across studies, affecting the consistency and comparability of results. By enabling users to interactively adjust the parameters for microsaccade detection and instantly observe the effects on microsaccade behavior at individual and group levels, VisME bridges a critical gap in eye movement research.
The system employs advanced brushing-and-linking techniques to extract, visualize, and compare the properties of microsaccades—such as spatial location, timing, and movement direction—across multiple views. This comprehensive approach facilitates a deeper understanding of microsaccadic events and allows for the nuanced comparison of results derived from different parameter settings.
