bsseq
"BSmooth" is a software pipeline designed to address the challenges of analyzing DNA methylation data obtained through whole-genome bisulfite sequencing. This epigenetic modification plays a critical role in gene regulation. Still, the cost, complexity of data, and a lack of comprehensive analytical tools have limited the broader application of this technology. BSmooth overcomes these hurdles by offering a suite of functionalities for alignment, quality control, and bisulfite sequencing data analysis.
One of BSmooth's key strengths is its ability to deliver accurate and precise results even when working with low-coverage data, a standard limitation in methylation studies due to the high costs of obtaining high-coverage datasets. Moreover, BSmooth is adept at appropriately handling biological replicates, ensuring that variability among samples is taken into account during the analysis process.
