prebs

PREBS is a novel method to enhance gene expression data integration across different technological platforms, explicitly addressing the challenge of combining RNA-sequencing (RNA-seq) data with microarray data. Despite the growing attention towards RNA-seq, the influx of microarray studies into public databases significantly surpasses that of RNA-seq, highlighting the need for effective cross-platform comparability solutions. PREBS addresses this by generating RNA-seq-based gene expression estimates that closely align with those obtained from microarrays.

The method estimates expression levels from RNA-seq reads overlapping with microarray probe regions, subsequently applying standard microarray summarization algorithms to these estimates. This approach ensures that PREBS-derived RNA-seq expression estimates resemble microarray-based estimates more than those produced by alternative RNA-seq processing methods.
