rFSA
The software tool rFSA is an R package that offers an algorithm for enhanced variable selection. This algorithm explores a data space to identify models of a user-defined structure that are statistically optimal based on a chosen measure of model quality. Through multiple iterations, the algorithm generates a set of feasible solutions or candidate models, which researchers can then evaluate to determine their relevance to specific research questions. rFSA is a valuable tool in various fields, including bioinformatics and healthcare, where the abundance of available data makes it challenging to explore larger subsets or higher-order interaction terms.
Key features of rFSA:
1. Model Exploration: rFSA assists researchers in discovering new models or refining existing ones by efficiently exploring the space of potential models.
2. Wide Applicability: The package is compatible with linear and generalized linear models, making it versatile for various applications.
3. Customizable Criterion Functions: Researchers can select from a range of criterion functions, including Allen's PRESS and AIC. Additionally, new modeling strategies and criterion functions can be easily integrated with rFSA.
rFSA is a tool for data-driven research, allowing users to automate and optimize the process of variable selection, which is crucial for extracting meaningful insights from large and complex datasets. It streamlines the model selection process and enhances the ability to handle vast amounts of data effectively.
