rtracklayer
The "rtracklayer" package is a tool to bridge the gap between genome browsers and data analysis in the R programming environment. This package facilitates seamless integration that allows users to efficiently transfer annotation tracks between a genome browser and R and to create and manipulate browser views. These capabilities enable researchers to concentrate on specific annotations within particular genomic regions, enhancing the depth and focus of genomic studies.
Currently, "rtracklayer" supports the UCSC genome browser, one of the most widely used platforms for genomic research. This compatibility ensures users can leverage the extensive resources and data available through UCSC directly within their R-based analysis workflows.
