vert_72

The software tool 'vert_72' is developed to explore the biological roles of TE-derived miR-1269a in Sebastes schlegelii, an economically significant fish species in coastal Korea. While previous studies focused on various aspects, including environmental factors and aquaculture, limited attention was given to genetic elements like microRNAs (miRNAs) and transposable elements (TE). 'vert_72' investigates the expression pattern of miR-1269a and its target gene, KSR2, across different tissues of Sebastes schlegelii. The study reveals that miR-1269a originates from the LTR retrotransposon MLT2B and is highly expressed in muscle, liver, and gonad tissues, while KSR2 exhibits high expression in the brain. Co-transfection experiments indicate enhancer activity of miR-1269a in relation to KSR2.
